Synoptic – Archery Models

Last week i created a few models to make an area of the map for archery i created some targets what are made of planks of wood and paint, Bows, and arrows. To make these models i used game inspiration recently a medieval game called Mordhau came out and i was looking at some of there designs on how they made them.

This is some of the references i used from Mordhau when making the target :

When Making the Bow i had to deform the cylinder to make it bend so i could make the curve for the bow itself. The arrow was more simple to make as i just had to build sections for it. The texturing was quite straight forward but for the target i had to try and fade all the paint in. This was to make the paint look more worn as if its fading away off environment effects and making it more dull.

My team were happy when i created these models as we had a lot of space in the village so i thought it would be a good idea for an archery range just on the open space. I also recommended Dylan to make some axes for the targets as well.

Synoptic – Torch Models

This week we discussed that my torch models will be using some VFX to create fire on the models, this will make them look more realistic. Dylan an Liam thought both the designs were good, but Dylan felt as though they would need tweaking to make them look better in the scene. This was because i left the top of the torches burnt like charcoal and they didn’t look to aesthetically pleasing.

For the ground torches i created braziers so they would look more unique and be less plain. To create these torches i used substance painter to make the models look more realistic Liam told me it would be a good idea to make different types of torches.

This is what my finished models look like:

Portfolio Model

Today i finished my shield for my portfolio this will not be included in the synoptic project. I decided to make a simple kite shield with an emblem to show off my texture work which i have been working on. Overall reviewing my own work i feel as though i am progressing well throughout the year. Furthermore when i started this year i was unable to UV unwrap and texture at a good standard. My work flow feels more consistent and the work itself looks more polished.

Before starting my design i had a look at some different types of shields and then tweaked parts of others to make the design i felt was best. The original kite shield for me was too long so i decided to make a shorter version of the shield. Also instead of making a normal metal shield i used Wood as well and made the forged emblem on the side.

Imagine World – Storyboard

So we were told by Tony to make a storyboard for my Imagine Worlds Project. For the storyboard you can see that I showed the interactions of the environment.

The storyboard what i created for my pitch, the storyboard is basically just some drawings which are planned out with text and directions to show your ideas to your peers. This is great for communication and to help your team understand what you would like to do. As you can see in my storyboard i aimed to show how i would interact with the idea of the game and the objects inside it. I feel as this this storyboard is well made and i have the dialogue to show what is also going on as well.

Synoptic Progress

BURNDOWN

So we have went from slightly falling behind these past few weeks but we have pulled back on track. We had to do some extra work outside of college in our spare time but it really befitted us an the project.

PRODUCTION SCHED

Some we decided to not make as we don’t really need them we felt like this would speed up some of the project itself and everyone what i have needed to do is done so far i am just making extra assets.

Art Book So Far

Our Art Book is starting to look more aesthetic we have got multiple screenshots of models in which are good. Dylan has been remaking the village to make it more life like adding clusters of assets together and making them more life like. We also started adding natural path ways to make the environment look and feel more alive an vibrant. For example we added pathways which looped round to cut paths and make it easier.

This is some images of the Art Book:

Synoptic Project – Texturing

This week i am texturing all of my work and making progress on the village by doing this i have also started taking renders for the art book as well. Dylan is also starting to do the same for these next two weeks, Liam will be making more Concept art and also starting some of the scripts for picking up items. Another problem what we need to do is to add colliders to the objects.

Some Textured Assets:

So far i would say from my opinion i am on track on everything i am doing with the project this is how my production schedule is looking so far. I have completed a lot of tasks and some of

Production 1

Synoptic Project – MVP Check

  1. So far our tasks are all mainly complete for modelling, most of the assets still need texturing. We are hoping to at least have most of the assets textured for the 5th of April which is our deadline.
  2. We will not need the project to be cut down because it is all small project and there is only three of us, we are literally going to have the village and the docks. There will be and nice feel to the environment as we will use custom terrain and organic models to make it more life like.
  3. What we need to do as a team is get everything fully textured and have some nice renders and screenshots of the village and models.
  4. What I need to work on to help my team is more modelling and keeping organised as well as texturing all of my models what i have created.PorductTrello.PNG
